Sekiranya pembedahan blepharoplasty dilakukan untuk tujuan mengubah penampilan muka supaya kelihatan lebih muda atau menutup tanda-tanda penuaan seperti kedut-kedut di bahagian kelopak mata dan seumpamanya, maka pembedahan seperti ini termasuk dalam perbuatan mengubah ciptaan Allah yang diharamkan oleh syarak.
Nabi S.A.W. bersabda:
لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الوَاشِمَاتِ وَالمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ، وَالمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ، وَالمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ، المُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى
Maksudnya: “Allah melaknati wanita-wanita yang membuat tatu, yang meminta dibuat tatu, yang meminta dicukur kening, yang membuat penjarangan gigi untuk kecantikan yang mengubah ciptaan Allah Taala”. (Hadis riwayat Bukhari, 7/164, no: 5931; Muslim, 3/1678, no: 2125).
Dalam hadis di atas, dua elemen yang menyebabkan pelakunya mendapat laknat Allah ialah mengubah ciptaan Allah berserta dengan tujuan untuk kecantikan. Dan kedua-dua elemen ini wujud dalam pembedahan blepharoplasty untuk tujuan kosmetik.
ii- Pembedahan Blepharoplasty Untuk Rawatan Kesihatan
Sekiranya pembedahan blepharoplasty dilakukan kerana keperluan dari sudut perubatan, contohnya bagi orang tua yang menghadapi masalah kelopak mata longgar sehingga menutup penglihatan mata, ataupun masalah-masalah kesihatan lain pada kelopak mata yang dapat diatasi melalui pembedahan blepharoplasty, maka ia harus dilakukan.
